Matric Technical Stream (Phase-I)

 

 

Introduction of the Scheme

 

The Government of Pakistan through Ministry of Education has launched a new technical stream at Secondary School level as per pattern of vocational education in most of the developed countries like Germany and England to develop human resources in the country. In this new programme the Government is introducing vocational education at post middle level. The programme is specially designed to broaden the base of technical and vocational education & training programme in the country. With the implementation of this programme, employment opportunity for the pass-outs, who otherwise were unskilled, will be enhanced. This new programme will increase the productivity of graduates improving their living standards, reducing unemployment and poverty at the same time.

 

The curriculum is developed by the experts of the country and further modified as per suggestions and recommendations of the Review Committees at the National level. The Education Secretary has already approved curricula for 17 courses to be introduced in this new programme. In the revised Scheme of Studies by the Curriculum Wing, Ministry of Education is introducing a new vocational subject as an optional against the Biology/ Computer Science. The course contents and weekly contact hours of other subjects such as English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Pakistan Studies, and Islamiat should remain the same as in existing Secondary School Certificate and same courses and same textbooks should be followed by this new stream. The pass-outs with this programme will be at par with Matric Science Group. 

 

Being a tremendous and challenging task was, this would not have been accomplished by any agency alone.  What brought this huge and difficult task to completion was the active participation of all the agencies engaged in the educational activity and pooling of knowledge, expertise and wisdom throughout the country.  The National Institute of Science and Technical Education acknowledges its indebtedness to the Curriculum Wing of the Ministry of Education and all other organizations, agencies and working teachers, who actively collaborated in the preparation and finalization of these curricula.

Goal: Matric Technical Stream

 

To promote and strengthen scientific, vocational and technological education and training in the country for socioeconomic growth and development, thereby, ensuring a self reliant and secure future for the nation.

 

Aims: Matric Technical Stream

 

The vocational and technical education aims are:

 

  1. To vocationalization of general education in order to produce a productive member of the society.
  2. To impart knowledge, skills, competencies, attitudes, and experience so as to enable individuals to contribute fully towards the socioeconomic development of the country. 
  3. To orientate and develop a workforce with the world of work according to the market needs both at the local and the national levels.

 

Objectives : Matric Technical Stream

 

  • At graduation, the students will be able to:
  • Understand the ideology of Pakistan and Islamic values with special reference to vocational and technical education and recognize responsibility towards socioeconomic development.
  • Use basic knowledge and competencies to continue studies, to join workforce or to initiate self-employment.
  • Appreciate the value, use and importance of the natural resources and environment.
  • Understand technological changes and their impacts.
  • Develop a positive attitude, habit to work cooperatively and good work ethics.
  • Develop reasonable skill in using basic hand tools.
  • Understand the socioeconomic importance of the trade, labor- market and possess occupational information for employment.
  • Appreciate good craftsmanship.
  • Follow good safety habits.
  • Develop a sense of dignity in labor and pride in achievement through manual work.
